  Connector for Microsoft Excel

The following guide will help you learn how to read and write data from or to Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with Apatar.

Configuration

To configure the connector for MS Excel, please follow these steps:

  1. Drag-and-drop the connector to Apatar's work panel.



  2. Double-click on the node to set its properties.
  3. Fill in the property fields.



    • File is the full path to your .XLS file
    • Password: If the spreadsheet is protected with a password, please enter your authentication details here
    • Data direction:





    • Offset indicates the first record position
    • FirstFieldPosition indicates the first field position
    • LastFieldPosition indicates the last field position
    • firstFieldName is a flag to indicate whether you want to treat the values in the first row/column (depending on data direction value) as column names
    • SkipEmptyRecords is a flag to indicate whether you want to skip empty rows/columns in specified range

  4. Press Next.
  5. If all af the previous steps were completed correctly, you will see the list of available MS Excel books from your .XLS file. Make a selection.



  6. Press Next. A list of the spreadsheet columns should occur.



  7. Press Finish.

Preview

Now you can preview data.

     

If a formula is used in a data cell, only the final value will be extracted from the .XLS file.
